As fellow Canadian, I can say that this app does work for us up north. Your identity needs to be verified, for the website version or the app, and I think thats what the previous reviewer is talking about. I had the choice of sending in notarized letter or just waiting until I got there, I chose the latter and everything worked out.
The app is fairly new so some sections are unavailable to regular patients. However, what is available is truly amazing. In the My Health section, you can access lab results, immunizations, allergies, medications, documents and lots more. The documents section shows any doctors reports very shortly after a visit.
The iPhone and the iPad version are pretty much the same and both update instantly as more information gets added to your file or appointments get changed. And another incredible feature on the iPhone is the notifications. It sends notifications one hour before your next appointment.
As the app grows and develops more, Im sure the amount of information at your fingertips will be amazing. And for those of us who did not go to med school, the information and some of the medical lingo could be overwhelming, but it does give you the opportunity to ask your doctors about specific results. Im not sure how long the app will be active after leaving the clinic and the only option to save the documents is to print. I dont have access to a printer that works with my i-devices, so I just logged on to the website Patient Online Services via my laptop and saved all of the PDFs.
Anyways, this is a truly an amazing app! No surprise given its from Mayo!
